Distributed Meeting Scheduling

چکیده
Meetings are an important vehicle for human communication. The Meeting Scheduling problem (MS) is a decision-making process affecting several people, in which it is necessary to decide when and where several meetings could be scheduled. MS is a naturally distributed problem which has a clear motivation to be tried using distributed techniques: people may desire to preserve the already planned meetings in their personal calendars during resolution. In this paper, we evaluate three distributed algorithms for MS according to efficiency and privacy loss. Two of these algorithms view MS as a Distributed Constraint Satisfaction problem.

A Formal Study of Distributed Meeting Scheduling
Automating routine organizational tasks, such as meeting scheduling, requires a careful balance between the individual (respecting his or her privacy and personal preferences) and the organization (making efficient use of time and other resources). We argue that meeting scheduling is an inherently distributed process, and that negotiating over meetings can be viewed as a distributed search proc...
متن کاملA Cryptographic Solution for Private Distributed Simple Meeting Scheduling
Meeting Scheduling is a suitable application for distributed computation, motivated by its privacy requirements. Previous work on this problem have considered some cryptographic techniques as well as new search strategies. In this paper, we provide a cryptographic and conceptually clear approach to solve a simple case of Meeting Scheduling, even achieving complete privacy.

We view meeting scheduling as a distributed task where each agent knows its user's preferences and calendar availability in order to act on behalf of its user. Although we may have some intuitions about how some parameters could a ect the meeting scheduling e ciency and meeting quality, we run several experiments in order to explore the tradeo s between di erent parameters. Our experiments show...

متن کاملMultiagent Meeting Scheduling with Rescheduling
We are interested in how personal agents who perform calendar management on behalf of their human users can schedule meetings effectively. A key difficulty of concern is deciding when to reschedule an existing meeting in favor of a new meeting. We model the meeting scheduling problem as a special subclass of distributed constraint reasoning (DCR) called the Incremental, Limited Information Exch...
متن کاملAn Effective Approach for Distributed Meeting Scheduler
Meeting scheduling is generally considered as one of the most common activities that takes place in organizations. It is a distributed, time-consuming, iterative, and also a tedious task. Meeting scheduling is an example of a resource allocation problem. The principal resource considered for meeting scheduling is the persons’ time. The resource requirement in a distributed environment is dynami...
